what I have learned about marriage in 2months

I made the best decision 2 months ago to say “I Do” and marry my best friend. I have known Michael since kindergarten. He lived down the street from me for pretty much my whole life. We have had many changes in the last 2 months. We closed escrow and finally got to move into our home. 2 weeks ago we got our puppy, Gunny. With these big changes, I have learned a lot about marriage and the key to keeping it successful.

  1. Buying a new home has taught me about compromise. What happens when you can’t agree on a paint color? You compromise. What happens when you turn into a neat freak and expect your husband to feel the same? Compromise. The house is going to be dirty sometimes. Just let it go.  My husband really wanted a room for all of his sports memorabilia. I gave him the garage even though I really wanted it for my car! He let me have my woman’s cave, too 🙂 yes, those exist.
  2. Getting a puppy taught me to stop overthinking everything. Michael had his mind set on a puppy. We had just moved into our home and I fought it hard. I came up with every excuse why we shouldn’t get a dog. Sometimes you just have to let some things go and enjoy the ride!  I finally agreed to the pup and it made Michael so happy. The day we brought Gunny home, I fell in love and regret denying it so bad in the beginning. Now I am the happiest I have ever been! Yes, it is annoying cleaning up after a puppy and a baby [and a husband] but seeing that smile on Carter’s face when he saw Gunny for the first time was all worth it. And now he has a forever friend. I look forward to watching them grow up together.
  3. Date nights are a MUST. My favorite part of the day is when Carter and Gunny are asleep at night and me and the hubs get to wind down, relax, drink some wine and watch a movie. We pretty much do this every night
  4. Let your wife sleep in. Research shows that women need more sleep than men.  I can just tell a big difference in my attitude when I’m tired.  I feel like a completely new woman when my husband gets up early to take care of the baby and the pup. So husbands, do yourself a huge favor and let your woman sleep. You will not regret it. My own personal guarantee.

Now, I don’t want to anyone to think that I have a perfect marriage. Does that even exist? We argue. We get annoyed of each other. Sometimes I don’t know if I want punch him in the face really hard or have another one of his babies.. Haha but I really couldn’t see myself with anyone else. I love my husband so much and appreciate everything he does for our family. He is the best husband and truly an amazing father! If you’re reading this Michael- happy 2 month anniversary. I love you and I will love you for eternity.

How to make a healthy smoothie when low on ingredients

I attempted to make a smoothie this morning using the well-known Ninja blender. Considering I didn’t have all of the necessary ingredients, I still made it work.. Even Carter liked it!

  1. Ice
  2. Oats
  3. a splash of vitamin D milk
  4. Greek Vanilla yogurt
  5. Blueberries

If you have a sweet-tooth, than I would recommend you adding some sugar, agave or honey. The sweetness from the Greek Vanilla Yogurt was enough for me 🙂

I have been living the last 2 weeks with this little black and brown furry nibbler that seems to be attached to my leg. Any guesses? My husband, Michael, thought it would be a great idea to get a new puppy. I was not thrilled about the idea. We just moved into our new house about 4 weeks ago and I’ll admit, i’ve been a  little neat freak. i want my house clean. at all times. call me crazy! Anywho, getting a new dog would just mess up my mojo. But, Michael gets what he wants and some how convinced me that it was a good idea and he would even let ME name the dog. Yep, that’s my husband for you. I did get a say in what breed he would be. I chose the infamous German Shepherd. Why, you ask? Well, try coming into my home uninvited and you’ll see. Just kidding, kinda! I need a dog for protection, just in case. I need a good, loyal dog, and so far he is everything I ever wanted in a pup. We got him and I named him Gunny. I will be posting more about my adventures with Gunny. All I can say now is that he is like velcro. He is literally stuck to me at all times. I don’t mind. and it makes hubby jealous.
